Letter to the editor: A sharp distinction

The media, with an agenda, purposefully conflate legal immigrants with illegal immigrants when they talk about economic contribution and crime statistics. Now we see the same thing happening with the protests over George Floyd’s murder. We are seeing peaceful protesters being conflated with the violent, criminal rioters. I don’t think anybody begrudges the people chanting and shouting and waving signs. I am confident most of us do resent the people burning cars, smashing glass and plundering businesses. One is peacefully assembling to petition for redress of grievances, and one is perpetrating crime under the cover of the protests. Tell our media to sharpen up their reporting, making a distinction between these very different actors.

Arvada
